A little bit about the artist, Kelly Elliott

Background

Kelly Elliott of RedHotBeads.com began making lampwork beads in 1997. The journey into lampworking began with a single-gas torch and 30 year-old kiln and has since progressed to an oxygen/propane torch, programmable kiln, and dedicated studio space in her home in Grass Lake. She is a self-taught glassworker; creating beads, glass wine bottle stoppers, sterling silver jewelry, and more.

Kelly has previously shown at the Marshall Fountain Faire and currently has beads for sale at Stony Creek Bead & Gallery in Ypsilanti, MI. Among the awards she has won are 3rd place in the 2002 Delphi ArtGlass Festival in the Hot Glass category and 2nd place in the 2003 Delphi ArtGlass Festival Jewelry category (both in-store and online contests). She has also attained featured artist status on the front cover of the 2002-2003 Delphi Glass catalog; and her work is featured in the WetCanvas! Sand and Glass calendar for the months of January and April, 2003.

A native of the Chelsea area, Kelly lives with her husband and sons in Grass Lake. She holds a Bachelors degree from Eastern Michigan University. Her “day job” is that of a Senior Business Analyst for the University of Michigan Health System.
